M42 to Canon Eos Lens adapter

I bought a lens adapter for some of my old film lenses recently for 8 bucks I thought it was worth a shot. I like it so far but there are a couple of drawbacks. It is a bit difficult to get in focus with my 28mm prime but my 50mm is easier. The other drawback is you kinda have to guess your exposure as it doesn't read the F-stop from the lens. My Canon XSI Thinks the Fstop is zero and if you try to get the exposure correct in manual mode it is usually over or underexposed. For the price it doesn't really bother me. These photos are jpegs straight out of my camera with no adjustments what so ever.

Went and walked the beach today.

It was a fairly clear day so you could see downtown Tampa.

You could mostly make out St. Pete too. As you can guess it was low tide.

The Coast Guard kept passing by, I think they were searching for a lost kayaker.

Breaking in the new bike

Traded my bike for a 29er today. Im kinda sad to let the old bike go have lots of great memories with it but it was time to upgrade. I took it easy today rode a few trails and just tried to get used to my new bike. The bigger rims ride over the bumps so much smoother. Its more a xc bike which I really like. It fits my riding style very well. It flat out climbs the old bike I was clearing things that I have never cleared before. I have things to get used to like the breaks and the shifters but so far I have really enjoyed its first run. I can't wait to put some more miles on it.

Riding back to the parking lot this guy startled me I wasn't expecting to see a alligator on the two track the runs in between the north south loops and palmetto.

The car started to act really lazy and when you went to start it up it didn't start until the second try. After letting it sit a few hours we decided to take it up to Auto Zone and have the code read. To my relief it was the cam sensor so it doesn't look like a job to do.

Big Drop at Balm Boyette Pine Scrub preserve

I only had my cell phone camera in my backpack today. I wanted to ride longer then I normally do so I left the point and shoot at home.

this was the old route. I think it was washed out by some of heavy rain we had this summer so it was closed for awhile.

This is the new route It isn't as tall as the old one but it feels faster. It scared me a bit as the smaller hill on the bottom I managed to catch some air and wasn't expecting to. I rode it twice today but I feel I will have to ride it a few more times before it will feel comfortable to me.

Balm Boyette Scrub Preserve

Balm Boyette Scrub Preserve is my favorite place to ride.Here are a few photos from my latest ride

South Abyss for me is the most challenging trail at the park. It is a black diamond expert trail.

Taking a break. It is well deserved rest once you get this far on South Abyss before you go on to finish the trail.

Boyette doesn't have a bunch of boulders or rocks but it more than makes up for that with tree roots. It makes for a good challenge. I think I took this one on Swamp Thing a intermediate trail that.

A meadow before you get to Ridgeline

Ridgeline is by far my favorite trail at Boyette. Its the most intense riding you can have at the park. Due to the amount of rain we get in the summer here it has to be closed until fall. It lies in the lowest part of park and that is why it has to be closed.

Woods trail is a nice place to start learning how to ride mountain bike trails. It is fairly flat and isn't as intimidating for newbies as other trails are.

Second break time. I sometimes will take a nap or read a book here.
East meadow and Spur are not as technically challenging as some other trails but are ton of fun due to the fact you can carry lots of speed through sections of those trails.

My favorite section on Palmetto. Palmetto is a easy trail that flows very nice especially if you take it from the two track the runs between Palmetto and the North, South Loops.

I took advantage of the Rays free ticket promotion and went to my first Major League game of the season.Got there around two in the after noon which was a smart move as I was near the door. By the time the doors opened the line for the tickets went clear back to the street! The wait wasn't to bad as I was hiding under a few palm trees for some shade. Didn't take many photos as I just had my point and shoot with me.All in all it was a great night.

so far I have taken off the old nasty bar tape and replaced it with new orange bar tape. pulled both wheels off and repacked the bearings. put a different seat on it and replaced the old brake pads with some new ones.

it was very muddy. I also found that my pedals are useless once they get wet. I wasn't planing to run the off road part of the trail but I forgot to put some air into the tires they were way to soft for pavement.

My latest camera project

This is my latest project. I took a camera and I replaced the stock lens with a 180 degree door peephole. It wasn't easy as it took me the better part of three hours to punch the old lens out and carve out a bit of the plastic lens mount so the door peephole would fit. I have no idea if I will get any good photos from this but for the two dollars and six cents I have into this setup I won't be to disappointed if it doesn't.

As a side note the background is just two pieces of printer paper.

The lighting strikes and the house starts to shake. A bad afternoon storm is coming in.

Before you know it the power has been taken out.

Looking through the window you can't even see a few feet in front of you the rain is coming down so hard.

Times likes this make you wonder if you should have built a ark.

Almost as fast as it came it's gone to annoy another town.

This weekend was pretty off for me. I Couldn't seem to expose my photos right. I also got a bit sick and almost fainted. I thought I was over the bug I had but I guess not. I feel pretty lousy today which is a bummer as I was starting to feel well.

My mother found her old Polaroid camera the other day. I borrowed it and took two photos I forgot how fun these things are. The film expired in 2003 and some of them are pretty damaged. You cant buy the film new anymore sadly.

Catching up after a vacation

I Have been playing catch up after my great vacation up to Tennessee last week. I was swamped with Lots of racing photos my father and I took at Volunteer and Bristol motor speedway you can see those here. I only took 3 or four non race related photos the whole trip. Sadly we couldn't fly this time so were more crunched for time as it's a 13 hour drive from Tampa Florida to Bristol Tennessee. I will be posting some more photos as this weeks progresses while I was on vacation A batch of photos came back I took with my Gaf l-cm. I will posting a few from that group of photos soon. I also Borrowed a Polaroid with expired film and will be posting those later this week.

New camera day

Found this while doing some antiquing today. It is my first range finder. This camera is a Argus c3 they were made in Ann Arbor Michigan from 1939 to 1966. I'm guessing this one was made in the 60s but I don't really know for sure. I had to do some research on how the controls work as it isn't like any other camera I have played with so far.

As you may know I have been enjoying my new kenko R1 (red) filters that I picked up for 3 dollars. here are two more photos.

as you can see when using color it really turns things red. Some people make interesting photos with it this way I haven't figured that out yet lol

got this one today. Ive been looking for awhile for a cheap film slr that was in good shape this one seems to fit the bill. Hopefully my first roll of film in it has some keepers. from what Ive have read about it is a Pentax m42 mount so lenses wont be to hard to find which is nice.

I was at Eastbay this past weekend. Had a good time. The weather forecast was supposed to be a zero to five percent chance of rain so of course we got some. We were lucky that it didn't amount to much and was just sprinkles that blew over pretty quickly.It was hot but at least there was a bit of a breeze.

I went to Hillsborough river state park last Sunday morning. It was pretty hot even though it was only 9am when we started. When its hot out though the trails are not used as much so you have them more to yourself. If you hike in the summer in Florida just be sure to bring plenty of water and hike in the morning or before dusk.
